9.1.12 Temporary Tables

In the same way as the tmpfile() PHP opens a temporary file that is deleted as soon as the script ends, MySQL allows you to create temporary tables. These temporary tables work in the same way as normal tables - you can give them names, add data, read data back, sort information, and such, but are deleted as soon as your database connection is closed.

Temporary tables are covered in full depth later in this chapter.
